Pure Yoga, Asia’s leading yoga studio, continously introduces
unique and exciting yoga experiences for yogis and yoginis. With
the Lunar New Year approaching, here are the latest Pure Yoga
offerings to revitalise you for the challenges ahead.
Yoga Dance
Led by Hari Om (biography attached), who
started learning at the age of 3 and performed publicly at 5,
Yoga Dance provides a “soulful experience” for busy Hong Kong
people with hectic 24-hour schedules. Taking on a distinctively
funky and flamboyant persona, this style of yoga comes in
variations. Bollywood Fusion is a high-velocity
cardio workout to the tunes of Indian pop music, excellent for
beginners and anyone else who wants to de-stress and detox;
Indian Dance infuses classical choreography with lots
of hand gestures, eye and neck movements that enhance
co-ordination; Kuchipudi is the traditional dance
originating from South India in fixed movement sequence and
helps to improve memory and co-ordination. It is also a total
body workout for your thighs, arms and shoulders.
Experienced dancers have a few more not-to-be-missed classes
including Dance X, another incredible cardio
session of non-stop music and impromptu choreography; Indo
Hip Hop is geared towards dance lovers with at least 6
months of experience who are looking for a more intense session
that improves flexibility and muscle strength.
Yoga Dance classes will be available weekly at all Pure Yoga
locations. For class schedule, please visit

Yoga Nidra
Complete relaxation in a yogic environment is at the core of
Satyananda Yoga Nidra® (Psychic Sleep), a simple yet powerful
guided relaxation done lying down and a favourite with yoga
students of all levels. It is a technique used to withdraw the
senses, which systematically induces complete physical, mental
and emotional release. The result is a blissful experience in
which the body and mind sleep, but the consciousness remains
active and aware following the instructions, a little like
dreaming while awake. This simple and effective meditation
practice helps to rectify insomnia and can be used for deep
healing.
Pure Yoga will offer the 60-minute Satyananda Yoga Nidra® -The
Power Nap starting in February. The class combines Surya
Namaskar (sun salutation series) and a 30-minute Satyananda Yoga
Nidra® to help students stretch and release tension from the
body/mind using the smooth flow of Surya Namaskar. It also
promotes deep relaxation and ‘letting go’, which induces greater
comfort in stillness. All eight stages of the Yoga Nidra
practice will be systematically shared, so students can enjoy
the healing and nourishing gifts of yogic sleep with awareness.
